Prosperity Fashion

Between 13 and 14 February, Group lead Dr Benjamin Wild will be participating in Prosperity Fashion conference at Università degli Studi di Firenze, hosted by Fashion Highlight Journal.

The conference seeks to adapt prosperity and prosperity thinking, which is conceived as a resource of both economic and human value, generated by a community with environmental and ethical constraints, and to consider its relevance for the future of fashion.

Ben will be talking about F/fashion narratives, which recognises fashion as a discrete form of narrative through which people, individually and communally construct stories in the creation of the social. Following Arthur W. Frank, F/fashion Narratives seeks to ‘reenchant a disenchanted world’ and ‘initiate a significant political intervention’ by demonstrating how garments exist within constellations of meaning that emphasise the connections between our human and more than human world.

F/fashion Narratives connects with a growing international movement, spurred by the COVID-19 pandemic and encompassing the academy, arts and industry, that recognises the importance of human culture, and our more than human world, in the creation of value, personal and communal, psychological and material
